Defender 110 originally an ambulance converted into a basic adventure camper

‘Nessa’ was originally built and is still registered as an ambulance hence the very low mileage which is genuine, also means no tax and as a classic car, low insurance. She runs on a V8 engine with 5 gears and consequently has a good bit of go in her – I call her Nessa because she is loud, rude and big! The body is the same as a normal Defender but with the addition of a fibreglass roof making extra height in which I can stand up (5ft 3ins). Nessa did have an extra single seat for the rear cabin which I still have but it would need to be fitted back in professionally for use. She is fully MOT and serviced and I have documentation to show I have had a considerable amount of work done on her including an overhaul of electrics and welding underneath.

I have done the conversion myself it includes sound proofing and insulation and the usual seat/bed conversion. I have not included sink, cooking etc other than sufficient storage and table for kitchen equipment. I use an Ecopower pack and solar panel (not included) which powers a low voltage induction hob and kettle which means I don’t have to use any gas and can cook/make tea inside in poor weather.

Please be aware this is a Defender – this is a vehicle which is quite a handful and if you have experience of them you know what I mean. Essentially they are a Mecano set which is very attractive to enthusiasts and a mystery to the inexperienced. I see this as a perfect fun vehicle for the a couple who enjoy a bit more space/height and someone who has more idea of engines and ‘boys toys’ than me.
