NORTHBOUND CAMPERVAN CONVERSION (converted in August 2023)
Converted in a clean and bright scheme with Scandi-style influences. We chose off-white paintwork, soft-drape fabrics and wooden details, enhancing the serene feel of the van.
Since I have had the van, I have added an insulated dividing wall between the cab and the rear, keeping the home area toasty warm in the winter with thanks to the diesel heater, or perfectly cool in the summer with the Zero Breeze 12v air conditioning unit (hard wired to the van for permanent installation).
I have also added a “dog bedroom” under the bed, this is big enough for large breed dogs or 2 medium sized dogs (I have an Aussie and he has tons of room). The dog bedroom is lined with a rubber matting ensuring easy cleaning. The Zero Breeze air conditioner goes through the dog bedroom as I wanted to make sure if I had to leave the dog in the van for a couple of hours in the height of summer, he’d be fine in the air conditioned van.
These few changes I’ve made since owning the van have really been to make it comfortable for my dog, he loves the van and will be sorry to see it go.
BUILD
The van is thoroughly cleaned before installing 3 layers of insulation. First, a 5mm layer of high quality bubble foil insulation. This material retains 95% of the residual heat in the van. Second, 25 mm Kingspan insulation board is fitted to the walls and ceilings and any gaps, we then silver foil tape around the sheets and any gaps (we leave a moisture barrier gap so there is no moisture transfer). Finally, another layer of 5mm bubble foil was added and sealed with more foil tape to give a 3-stage insulation.

ELECTRICS
The electrics are powered by a high quality 130 amp deep cycle leisure battery or through 240v mains hookup. These batteries are really good quality and being constantly topped up by the 200w solar system extends the batteries lifecycle and output.
The battery can be charged using 3 methods either the split charge system with Victron Orion smart charger while driving to you destination, via the 200w Solar with Victron MPPT and charge from the battery charger when on mains hookup.
In all honesty, when purchasing this van, I thought the amount of battery power might be an issue, however, after owning for 8 months, I have never had to plug the van in to charge, i don’t even have a cable to if I needed to! And the battery has never dropped below 65%, the victron energy app shows historical data and I just haven’t had the need to get a bigger battery, although if you really wanted to, you could sway the battery out to a 200ah battery without having to change any of the other components.
There is an LED display voltmeter so you can keep a close eye on your power consumption and never have to worry whether you are running low on charge or not. There is also a switch panel which controls power to the fridge, heating system and water pump. Everything has been individually fused for ease of maintenance.
• Split charge system with relay and Victron Orion DC-DC Smart charger
• Zero Breeze Mk2 12v AC unit, hardwired into the van (only van in the UK to have this). Also comes with 240V plug, Dual battery connector
• 580wh battery pack for Zero Breeze so it can be used for up to 8 hours of AC on humid days with little solar to save battery.
Battery pack can also be used to charge USB devices, similar to having an additional Jackery style power unit as a backup (I’ve never had to use it in this way though)

• Switch control panel
• LED lights with dimmer switch
