Mercedes Vario 814 d
The truck came from Hampshire fire service and was previously used as a mobile maintenance workshop.
I have owned the truck since April 2017:-
It is registered it as a 5 seater motor caravan with DVLA. This went through with out any problems.
It has 5 x legal travel seats all with seat belts,
It sleeps 4, 1x fixed double bed and 2x single beds.
It’s MOT was carried out in Oct 2022 and passed without problem so is due in Oct 2023 If you look on the MOT checker you’ll only see the MOTs since I’ve had it as I presume they were done within the fire service along with the servicing. Since then I’ve had it serviced and MOT’d at the main public bus depot with no expense spared. It’s had new front brake disc and pads and rear caliper approximately 2000km’s ago.
If you’ve done your research you’ll know these truck suffer from a variety of rust. As this truck spent most of its previous life in a fire station the body work and underneath is in amazing condition and I would argue that you won’t find one of this age in as good condition. ( I’m sure someone will tell me otherwise though!) . When I got the truck the rear wheel arches were starting to go underneath the plastic wheel arch trims and there was a bit on the back end of the sill so these were cut out and replaced. I have the pictures of the whole process. The doors front and back are original and in really good condition, One of the back doors had a bit of rust on the underside of it so had that cut out and replaced as well. The bonnet was also starting to rust on the front face, which again is common apparently, so replaced the bonnet as it was cheaper than getting it repaired. The arches and sills were replaced in 2018 and the bonnet was replaced in 2020/21. The underside of the truck is in exceptional condition and the Michelin tyres also have loads of tread left on them and the spare looks as if it has never been used.
There is SuperFoil insulation in the bulk of the truck, things like doors and tight areas have the recycled plastic insulation.

There are various usb charging points around the camper.
The sound system is a Bluetooth amp that connects to laptop/mobile this is powered via the leisure batteries. It has the standard speakers at the front and also 2 larger ones in the middle of the van.
The roof rack is from an ex BBC outside broadcasting truck so completely over engineered but very sturdy.
The main fixed bed at the back of the camper is set up length ways. I am 6ft3″ tall so am too tall to sleep width ways. It has a Cooltech made to measure mattress in 2 halves to gain access to storage underneath and the covers are removable for cleaning. The length of the bed is 2010mm long x 1300mm wide from the head end to approximately half way down then reduces to 1100mm at the feet end. this was to allow space for the bathroom. The height of the bed allows bikes to be stored underneath but also allows enough height to easily sit up in bed.
The 2nd bed pulls out from the bench seat and is (1620mm x 800mm)
The 3rd bed is a bespoke bed at 90˚and on top of the 2nd bed.(2000mm x 660mm) This is a bit of a jigsaw puzzle to build but only takes a couple of minutes once you know the procedure.
