Transit 115 T350L RWD
Ford Transit Campervan Β£11,500 PRICE REDUCED FOR QUICK SALE (Ideally by the end of the week!)
Reluctantly selling my beautifully converted ford transit campervan, converted in march last year it took me 3 incredibly busy months to get it to the amazing standard it is today. No expense has been spared on the build, i wanted it to feel premium inside and also for everything to work properly for years to come.
Van History
The van has spent most of its life assisting broken down HGV vehicles for my friends company, it was off the road for a few years until his sister decided she would convert it, so they decided to recondition the gear box, fit a second hand engine from another transit which had only done 60k miles (i have the paperwork to prove this) new prop-shaft, and some various other work to vastly increase the vehicles lifespan. She then soon after bought a house and of course realised she wouldnβt have the time to take on the build, so i having wanted to do a van build for years thought this was the perfect opportunity to do so! So as mentioned i bought the van in march last year freshly MOTβd, i then had some work done to it before i started the build: full service, new wiring loom, new front suspension arms, new spare wheel carrier, new gearbox mount, new van batteries, 4 wheel alignment and bf goodrich tyres all round including spare wheel (these cost over Β£1000 and have done only 3k miles), after this was done i started stripping the van, cleared everthing out even the front seats so i could access the whole floor of the van for the necessary rust prevention to take place, i will include all pictures i have of the process.
The Build
All the woodwork is bespoke, cabinets and cupboards handmade using hardwood ply and softwood ply for the doors as it has a stunning pattern that works really well in contrast with the pine cladding and black vintage style handles & hinges. Plenty of storage: overhead cabinets, overhead bulkhead storage and kitchen cupboards.
The Electrical system is as sophisticated as you can get with every component being Victron energy (the lovely blue boxes you see in the best campers for those who dont know) apart from the massive 2000W inverter that is made by another well esteemed company called Renogy – this allows you to use standard uk 3 pin plug devices up to a maximum of 2000W off grid. The van has 3 ways of charging the batteries: 230w solar panels mounted on the roof, dc-dc charger and also a shore plug-in (all Victron) there is also a separate double socket that works just off of shore power, so when the van is plugged in you can use these sockets to power your devices without using any energy from the leisure batteries. The batteries i have chosen are 2x 100ah AGM Victron supercycle batteries of which you are able to completely drain if needed and it wouldnβt damage the batteries (usually you can only discharge standard AGM batteries to 50%) the reason i didnβt go for lithium batteries is because they do not deal with cold temperatures well and i built my van for the purpose of living in it in the french alps where temperatures can reach -20 degrees Celsius. The Van also has the best of the best diesel heaters – Eberspacher, these are costly at Β£2000 but are incredibly reliable unlike the cheap Chinese diesel heaters that you will see in most campervans that very often break, also they tick loudly when in use, i myself could not put up with that especially when trying to sleep. Sony stereo with screen & apple car play up front.
As for the insulation in the van the walls and rear doors are lined with recycled plastic bottle insulation, this is very effective and also great soundproofing as opposed to celotex which sound penetrates easily but has got higher insulating qualities, which is why i have used it for the floor, ceiling and also the bulkhead, many people opt for a curtain or just thin wood as a bulkhead, but the result of this is a boiling hot van in summer (because the cab is like a greenhouse) and a freezing cold van in winter (because the cab is like a fridge). Also in the back is the trusty maxxair fan which is an absolute beast, 10 different speeds to keep you cool on a hot day and of course acts as a brilliant extractor fan for when you are cooking. This leads me to the cooking facilities, this van has no gas fitted at all, because of the inverter i have a 1600W double ring plug in electric hob, i chose this for a couple of reasons, 1. it makes the van much safer, 2. gives you lots more room to prepare food on the solid oak worktop before plugging it in. To store fresh food i have installed the Dometic Crx50 compressor fridge another vital component in my opinion, these fridges are near enough silent and use a lot less power than standard fridges for example some van owners will install household mini fridges these are loud and will drain the battery incredibly quick, so are useless unless plugged into shore power. Built into the worktop there is a big sink with an extendable swivel tap, 25L water and waste tanks underneath complete with water pump, accumulator and filter.
At the rear of the vehicle i have opted for a fixed bed which has an unbelievably comfortable matress – 9.5ββ thick and 1000 pocket springs! A great benefit of the fixed bed is the massive amount of permanent storage you gain underneath. The floor throughout the camper is lined with thick rubber matting, as is the overhead cab storage, this is to stop things sliding around whilst on the move.
I will include a big box of spare parts that i have kept incase anything in the van breaks (which nothing has so far!) this includes: spare piping, screws, fuses, sockets, cable etc.
The total cost of the Van & Build was 15k.
I also have a laguna swivel table that i haven’t fitted yet due to being sent the wrong size bracket, i will include this in the sale, i’m sure it won’t be too hard to find the correct bracket. Also will include pots, pans, hob, plates, mugs, cutlery etc.
The Van is currently in for an MOT & Service so i will upload more pictures when i have it back! Feel free to contact me for further information, Louis – 07903482854
*UPDATE* Passed MOT on 13/8/24 – new rear discs & pads, rear leaf spring and i also had it serviced.
