Ford Transit 350 L4H3 RWD TDCi 125ps
The van is perfect and straight away ready for your first adventure – either in the UK or abroad. She is super easy to drive long distances.
When bought the van it had a full service history, which we have maintained.
This van has 6 gears and it is a excellent example of a van this age. The bodywork is in excellent condition.
In terms of new mechanical equipment – we bought 4 brand new all-weather tyres, which have plenty of tread left in them and have replaced the starter battery. Other than that it hasn’t needed anything doing.
The van was professionally converted in 2021 by Born Wild Vans (bornwildvans.co.uk). On their website it is featured in the ‘Van Conversions’ section as ‘Van 2’.
This design was focused on off-grid practicality, storage and a cosy homely feel with no expense spared on fittings and many fixed features (no putting-up of the shower or bed here!), made possible by the large size of the van.
The double bed spans across the width of the van and both of us sleep quite well despite both being nearly 6 foot tall. The bed area has recesses for head and foot space along with reading lights and USB charging points and a bookshelf above the foot end.
In addition to the third berth there is plenty of additional storage: under the seating areas, in the garage under the fixed bed, in the kitchen units and in additional overhead storage which was built going over the drivers cab from the kitchen.
The van was designed with off-grid and undesirable weather conditions in mind – featuring permanent shower, water tank, two solar panels, discretely designed pull-out toilet from under seating area and storage accessible – all without leaving the van. The van is also fully insulated with cladding fitted. A large (22L) LPG gas tank is situated in the back which lasts a long time, and is refillable from petrol stations with LPG pumps meaning you get a larger capacity for a much cheaper rate (~80 pence a litre) than you would with exchangeable camping-style gas cylinders.
There is plenty of space to sit, with a beautiful wooden pull-out table for eating at. Cooking hasn’t been neglected either, with two separate wooden worktops for food preparation, a large 3-hob cooker with oven/grill, Dometic 12v fridge, lightweight Belfast style sink and finally a wine rack! Above the seating area there is a sky light and above the cooking area the separate fan-enabled skylight works as an extractor fan.
There are fairy lights installed for ambience and dimmable ceiling lights.
Cabinets were painted with Farrow and Ball ‘Oval Room Blue #85’, and the handmade blackout curtains are Harris Tweed.
Last but not least the shower is permanent fixture, getting it’s warm water supply from a Propex boiler which can be heated via the LPG gas and/or 240v mains electric supply, from a 100L fresh water tank.
One fixed double bed going across the width of the van, with custom memory-foam mattress, and recessed head and foot space.
The third berth utilises the two seats and with a custom middle panel section to enable it to serve as a bed for a third person.
There is also a large (removable) dog crate in the garage area with door access from the interior. Dog crate dimensions are 21’9″ high, 30’2″ wide, 19’5 depth.
