Vehicle Description

Selling my beautiful chalet on wheels, Lila, as I have bought a new van. £13500 ONO

05 plate VW LT35 L2H2 Rear wheel drive

Roughly 34mpg

I have had a lot of work done on the engine since I got it including new turbo, oil pump, injectors, cam and fuel timing belts, brakes, start motor etc. with paperwork for most of this.

187k miles on the clock but has just been fitted, at the beginning of September, with an engine with only 120k miles.

There is a bit of rust around the bottom of the doors, which I treat and rust proof periodically to stop it spreading. Otherwise the bodywork is in pretty good condition for the age

Drives really well and has a lot of power but it is an old van (05 plate), so anyone interested must bare this in mind

Comes with 4 keys

Conversion Description

I bought and converted this van during the 2020 lockdown and spared no expense as I was planning to (and have been) living in it ever since. I am a cabinet maker by trade and designed this van to be functional and comfortable for full time van life with a fully equipped kitchen and loads of easily accessible storage. I lived for nearly 10 years on the Swiss boarder and so this conversion was inspired by the Swiss alpine chalets, and definitely has the same cosy feel. I fitted 3 big windows (it already had one in the side door), which lets in loads of light and makes the van feel really spacious. Since I knew I would be living in it all year round I went all in on the insulation, using 50mm celotex in the roof and walls and 25mm in the floor. I also fitted a mini Outbacker wood stove, coupled with custom made thermal lined curtains, I have been toasty warm through the coldest alpine nights.

The entire inside of the van (cladding, floor & cupboards), except from the work surface, is made out of reclaimed pallet wood which I dismantled and processed myself. All the cabinets are therefore custom made with care and attention to detail, blending a rustic look with modern functionality.

The bed was originally designed to be convertible into a table with benches, but I never used it that way so turned it into a fixed style with slats, which also helps air circulate around the mattress and avoid mould. The mattress will probably need replacing as it is very thin (I love hard mattresses).

The unofficially weighed weight is just over 3 ton. The wood all being pallet wood and so very dry, doesn’t actually add that much weight.

There is a 25L underslung LPG tank which currently only supplies the 3 burner hob, which was checked by Autogas 2000 but they didn’t give me a certificate.

And for water there is 25L jerry can for fresh water with a submersible pump which supplies the tap, and a 25L jerry can for grey water, both removable for easy filling/ emptying.

I understand that it can be difficult to get around North Wales without a vehicle, so if you are serious about seeing Lila, I will happily meet you in Bangor, where the nearest train station is.

Many thanks for your interest 🙏🏼☺️
