The base vehicle has had a complete engine rebuild with new injectors, EGR system, thermostats, cooling system – the list goes on, we just replaced everything to make sure we were confident it is perfect.
The body has a few dings as you can see in the pictures, but looks great with its newly painted skirt.
It’s running around on mud and snow tyres so that you can be a little adventurous with the roads and conditions you are heading out onto. There’s now nothing to stop you driving down that slightly dodgy track to get the ‘van-life’ view you dream of.
MOT is good for another 10 months.
6 speed gear box
9 inch full screen head unit with the option of it’s own data SIM (or teather to your phone) gives great conectivity with Spotify, Audible, BBC sounds, Youtube etc. Sat Nav though Google Maps or Waze ensures you get roughly where you wanted to be.
The standard van front seats have been replaced with comfy singles, both with arm rests and the drivers side has electric height adjust.
From the humble beginnings of a builders van it is now unrecognisable.
The basics have all been completed, sound deadening, reflectives and recycled plastic bottle insulation, even in all of those hard to reach holes. We wanted a van that would keep us warm and cosy on those cold nights in the Scotish Highlands and having been out in the middle of a -11ยฐC in Braemar it really works well.
There is a fully pumped water system, hot and cold water from a 75ltr cold tank, 25ltr hot tank (bobbil vans water heater), filtered drinking water and a 25ltr grey water tank. All are internal to reduce freezing risks and road damage.
Heating is from a diesel heater that is plumbed into the main fuel tank, it is controlled from a panel or from the remote control.
The electrical system is great. Starting from a demand that we could have a Nespresso coffee in any location we rocked up in, we worked from there. It has a 280Ah Lithium battery with Bluetooth Battery Management System, charged from a Renogy DC-DC charger whilst driving, this also feeds a 2Kw inverter so that all the gear works whenever you want it to. There are USB chargers throughout including ultra fast PD chargers.
For cooking we generally use either a rice cooker or induction hub for meals with the option of portable gas hobs if we want to cook outside.
We use a Yeti style cool box that stores under one of the sofa seats, the other sofa has additional storage space beneath. Between the two sofas there is a solid oak dining table that retracts under the bed when not in use.
All of the worktops are solid oak and have been protected with food safe Danish oil and there is a full-size sink, with mixer and filtered water taps.
The toilet slides out from under the sink for easy access.
Storage is located all over the van with a massive โgarageโ space under the double bed, spaces under the sofas, 4 full extension deep drawers and space above the bed and driving cab.
There is also the facility to enjoy a movie night in the van with a projector above the bed and screen that hangs just infront of the cab.
The bed is fixed at the rear running side to side with room for me to slee well at 182cm tall. A full size memory foam mattress with 240V plug sockets below if you want to have an electric blanket. There is lighting that can be controlled from the bed, a window above your feet and USB charging points for phones and gadgets. The heating can also be switched and controlled without leaving the bed.
