Mercedes 809d Off Grid Camper Conversion
This is a very special and difficult sale to make But unfortunately it needs to be done due to moving to Portugal and needing the money.
She is a very beautiful, special van with all kinds of magic. Having been to Glastonbury, Buddhafield, and many other festivals, journeys, magic trips and adventures, Dorothy is up for sale. Named after my late Grandma. I built her myself from scratch and have photos of the build too.
The practical things…
12 Months MOT and £2k spent to get her in shape including some welding, brakes, new water pump, cam chain, 2 brand new high quality batteries etc.
Only 70,000 miles!!! (112,000 km) This is absolutely nothing for these engines. They often go on for upwards of 500,000 miles!
Starts first time every single time no matter how long she’s been standing, especially now with 2 new batteries.
Very easy to convert to run off vegetable oil too. I never got round to it, but I have the number of someone who does it and says it’s an ideal conversion vehicle.
5 tonne vehicle so you’ll need a pre 1998 licence or a 7.5tonne HGV
Beautiful wooden handmade kitchen with live edge cherry wood worktop, and live edge wooden shelving throughout.
Hot and cold water
Hot shower on the outside! This is to save space on the inside, and to have super enjoyable outdoors showers. We were always in wild places where this was possible.
There is a special pump system that enables you to suck water from any natural water source (river, stream or lake) within about 30m of where you’re parked up… meaning you can have basically an endless water supply… endless hot showers. (or until the gas runs out!)
She has 2 large solar panels, all the 12v electrics you’d need with a brand new high quality 2000W 240V inverter, as well as 240V plug in electrics for when you’re somewhere with power.
She also has a battery charger built in from 240V
a 12v low power fridge
and 1 large brand new 240AH leisure battery. The electrics alone are worth around £2k.
Gas oven and large gas hob.
Large wood-burner for the cold days. It gets super super warm and creates a wonderful glow throughout the van.
Beautiful natural slate tiling in the kitchen and around the burner.
She is an old van and there are some quirks. The locks could do with replacing on the drivers door and back door. At the moment you can lock it safely, but need to enter from the back door… I can explain in more detail if you’re interested.
There are still come rust spots, but none of them affect the MOT so I didn’t bother getting them done. If you spent another £1k her she’d be perfect and worth a lot more.
If you’re genuinely interested then please do get in touch. I want her to go the right owners as she’s very special to me. She’s available now for viewings until Wednesday 4th September 2024, then again on Monday and Tuesday 9th and 10th September.
I will manage this as a first come, first to view, first serve basis. It’s challenging to manage these sales so this is the only way.
Blessings.
