This truck came from the fire department in Adlitz, a town in Germany. Stored inside the fire department, it had a well maintained and easy life and is therefore in great condition. It was undersealed from new with completely solid chassis. I purchased the truck from the fire department in 2020. This truck has only done 21,000 miles and I have all Mercedes service documents. This truck was a pump vehicle, it did not carry water, only hoses etc. The pump is still on the vehicle and is an attractive feature. The drive to the pump has been disconnected but could easily be reconnected. Before I started on the conversion, all service work was done. All new filters, gear box oil change, axle oil change, brake fluid change, antifreeze change, clean out fuel tank, all brakes stripped and cleaned, all grease points done. All Mercedes parts used, no expense spared. This vehicle has a 5 speed manual gearbox and the bomb proof OM314 diesel engine which does 25/30 mpg. This vehicle is historic which means no road tax or MOT but is currently MOT’d with no advisories. After all work was done I then converted it into a lovely quirky campervan. The reason for sale is I have bought another one for my next project! A GREAT OFF GRID CAMPER. If you are looking to get from A to B fast then this van is not for you. It will sit comfortably at 50/60 mph. It is all about the experience and the fun of driving a fire engine. We don’t usually go to classic car shows but we were recently asked to go to a charity classic car show and, to our surprise, we won first prize as you can see in the photos.
Currently there is a full size fixed double bed to the rear with storage beneath. The dining area converts to a smaller double bed suitable for 2 small children.
