Vauxhall Movano L2H2
The van is a 2.3l CDTI, 125bhp. Drives like new as you’d expect from the age and mileage. Will happily sit at 80mph on the motorway all day but is equally nice to drive around town. It’s the perfect size, really roomy inside but will fit in a normal parking space and is easy to drive. Also has a towbar fitted.
I bought it in October 2018 with only 16,000 miles on the clock. This was originally a home office surveillance van as can be seen on the vehicle history. At some point while it was owned by the home office it was broken into and damaged to the extent of getting declared category C for non-structural damage. I haven’t been able to find any sign of this whatsoever so the repairs were obviously carried out to a high standard.
I’ve had no issues at all since owning it and it’s sailed through every MOT without advisories. The MOT date is October.
The home office (first owners) had the internals lined and insulated and flooring fitted. They also fitted LED lights in the back, blackout tinted side windows, Seitz skylight and an Eberspacher D2 diesel heater, so it was all done to top spec.
I designed the layout around having a full size double bed which folds up and acts as a large storage cupboard during the day. The space under the bed is sized to hold several bikes. The bed assembly is mainly unistrut so could be stripped out and reconfigured if wanted. There is a 100Ah leisure battery on a split charge system which powers the water pump, socket outlets, lighting and heater.
I installed a large sink in the kitchen as it’s handy to chuck everything into when moving off without having to store dirty dishes etc. There are 25l fresh and waste water tanks under the sink with pump, as well as a gas bottle connected to a single burner ring which is brought out when required.
The couch faces out of the side door which is great for watching the world go by and the back of the couch is removed on magnetic clips to create a child sized bed.
The cab is seperated from the back by a lined curtain to keep light and heat in (or out). The double DIN stereo has built in satnav, DAB radio, bluetooth music and telephone and can be switched to a reversing camera at the push of a button. The camera is hidden in the brake light cluster.
It also has C-channel awning rail fitted the length of the left hand side. We used it with a Olpro XL awning which was a perfect fit but I’m selling that separately.
I’ve tried to think of any bad points and there aren’t really any! The tints on one of the side windows has developed a ripple over the last year so it will need to be replaced if that bothers you. We’ve haven’t felt the need. There’s also a strip of colour changing LEDS which run around the edge of the ceiling which don’t seem to be working as of this morning. I’m sure it’s something simple and I’m only mentioning for completeness.
Since having the van we’ve taken it all over the UK and France. We had big plans to travel through Scandinavia this year but have decided to move overseas so unfortunately the van has to go! I can chuck in an assortment of other gear if you’re interested including levelling chocks, camping extension lead, electric hot plate, windbreak, storage boxes etc etc.
One full size double bed at high level (188cm x 133cm)
The couch converts to a child sized bed (152cm x 62cm).
