Conversion Description

This conversion has always been based on ‘Stealth’, being off grid, but having the comforts of home. I wanted to have a spacious build, not to feel enclosed with too much going on with shower/toilet rooms, overhead cupboards everywhere. I think I managed to get the flow I was looking for but not cutting back on the essentials, luxuries and the basics.
The conversion boasts a massive electrical set-up of 600W Solar, 400AH Lithium Batteries, 240V Hook-up and a 3000W Inverter. Three ways of recharging your batteries; Hook up, DC/DC and Solar power. As I said this was a design for complete stealth, being off grid for a lengthy period of time comfortably knowing you have enough power to do so.
With the decision to keep the conversion stealthy I decided to keep the external as van like as possible giving more opportunity for overnight stays in urban locations or heavily populated areas, so I believed that not fitting external windows was the right choice. Another reason for no windows was to get a more cinematic vibe from the projector, laying in bed with a movie with no hints of light glistening through covered windows (or condensation catchers I like to call them). Ventilation for the build was important, so not having windows I installed Two Maxxfans which are remote-controlled and can be used effectively by setting one to have the air flow coming in and one having the airflow going out, giving the ventilation that’s needed.
Two comfortable seats have been built with reading lights overhead that are dimmable with USB. One seat houses the two lithium batteries that are securely fixed the other seat has extra storage under cushion. A sliding table has been fitted to create a dining area.
There is plenty of cupboard space to hold your electrical items, crockery, food, clothes, footwear and other items.
The Garage area was build for space and also to hide all the workings of the electrics and water system but giving easy access. I also kept in mind it’s a van and from time to time may be used as such, so a through door was built so long items can be carried when needed.
The water system is heated by Bobil Hybrid giving great options to heat your water all year round either via 12v (batteries) 240v (hook-up) or diesel heater. An external shower is fitted for off grid convenience.
