Conversion Description

When I bought, and subsequently refurbished, this van, I wanted:

– Really comfortable to chill in during evenings (sofa, projector, hammock)
– Proper big bed (sleep doesn’t come easy to me) that is easy to pull out, but not fixed.
– Massive Garage space for bikes, snowboards, surfboard etc
– Stealthy and compact for parking on city streets if needed. I didn’t want to spend 30 quid a night at campsites. I can park anywhere and not have problems.
– Short and slim enough to navigate Cornish roads.
– To live and work remotely off grid 24/7.
– Reliability for a year long trip in Europe.
– Bang for buck! I wanted the utility of a professionally converted sprinter without the 30-50k price tag.

In the campervan world, I was told i would need to compromise…

… I didn’t. And here she is. She’s been designed to live in, full-time off-grid (I did so for a year before refurbishing), and, well, simply works – from the layout to the facilities. Given her compact size and stealthiness, I also use her as a moving hotel room to visit friends and family or for city escapes.

Imagine taking her to the wilderness after work or on the weekend… hammock out. Movie on the projector. She can be parked anywhere and doesn’t draw attention 🙂

MWB (5.5m) Renault Master.

Really well maintained, full service history, very few advisories on entire MOT history.

* Private owner (me)

* PROJECTOR AND SCREEN: Big as I could fit in there. The projector alone was 300 quid. This aint no cheap one either!

* SPACE TO MOVE: I redesigned the space after living in it for a few months. IT doesn’t feel cramped. 1 person cooking and the other chilling, or 2 people cooking, whatever. You don’t have to tiptoe around each other.

* HEATING: Diesel heater is so good I’ve spent 2 weeks in the alps at -10 and been toasty. Efficient.

* KING SIZE BED: Bed pulls out in single movement over the sofa. Massive, comfortable. I’m 6ft and i can sleep crossways.

* SOFA(!!): Proper comfy, deep seats. Rare in a camper.

* FRIDGE– integrated so that you aren’t looking at a fridge door

* BIG GARAGE – for Bikes, boards, SUP’s… anything big!

*SINK FOOT PUMP – I don’t need a billion litre watre tank. The foot pump means that 50L can last 10 days including drinking water.

* 2 PROPERLY SPACED GAS HOBS – You can actually use them both at the same time, with large pans. Try doing that with the vertically aligned ones…

* LARGE SINK: stainless steel sink (little sinks may look cute but are a pain when you actually want to wash up!).

* LARGE SOLAR SET UP: 200w panels & VARTA 200AH AGM leisure battery (the brand is very important). Batteries also charge from engine.

* 4 x USB sockets (plus one in cab). Supports Fast charging via usb C. It can keep a laptop going indefinitely.

* AWNING – Fiamma removable awning. It’s massive.

* SECURITY: Full steering wheel cover lock. Big and yellow. great deterrent and actually useful. Look on youtube at steering lock tests you will see that the only ones worth the money are the ones that cover the entire steering wheel.

* HAMMOCK – Fixing points at the rear and side doors. Park near a tree or similar and enjoy.

* FULL SIZE KITCHEN CUPBOARDS

* 30MPG average since I owned her.

A Thetford chemical PortaPotty is stowed discretely under the sofa. Also included is a 12V water pump with shower head. I used a solar shower bag for warm showers (not included. £30 on amazon).

Returning from a year in Europe. Dawn is all kitted out with loads of extras so you can hit the road straight away. This includes required kit for European driving (Reflective vest, warning triangles, breathyliser). The van will also come with snow chains and has all-season tyres which are compliant for winter driving across Europe. There is a spare wheel and tools.

WHAT ELSE?
* Lovely thick wood worktops
* Ridiculous amount of storage… Garage, under the sofa, in kitchen cupboards, above kitchen, under passenger seats
* Roof light and vent
* Big table/desk for 2: eat, work etc
* Kitchen downlights & Main over head lights.
* Bluetooth cab connectivity
* Fully insulated
* Includes water refill hose
* Seat covers for all 3 front seats
* Windscreen sun shield
* Outdoor 12v shower
* Water tank cleaner
* Porta potti + Cleaning fluid (scrubbed to within an inch of its life and drenched in bleach lol)
* Hammock
* 8L of diesel in the diesel heater tank
* 3/4 full bottle of gas (large)
* Kettle
