Vauxhall Vivaro 2900 CDTI LWB
Overall, the van is in great shape with exceptionally low mileage for its age, having been converted relatively early in its life. Being a medium-length van, it’s much easier to maneuver than some of the longer LWB models out there.
The bodywork is in decent condition, with some minor dents on the rear right quarter and a few spots where the paint is missing, mainly where the awning used to be. There are also a few small holes from the awning’s previous mounting points which have been plugged and sealed ready for re-use if required. Sadly, the awning was claimed by a particularly strong Welsh wind!
The engine is in excellent shape, having been regularly serviced, and the 6-speed manual gearbox makes for a smooth, enjoyable drive – especially for a van! It has a solid service history, and it’s recently been serviced and MOT’d with only single advisory for a chipped windscreen, so Penny is all set for another year of adventures.
Originally converted from a window glazier’s van by Camper Dreamin’ as their very first van project, this van has had further layout changes by the previous owner, with a few additional touches from us. Overall, the conversion is well done, but if you’re looking for a high-end, professionally finished van, this might not be for you. However, if you’re after something modest with bags of character, keep reading!
The majority of the van has been insulated, wood-lined, treated, and painted, creating a cozy, inviting space. There’s a spacious storage area above the bulkhead, ideal for stowing your sleeping gear, supplies, and even the dining table when it’s not in use.
The van comes equipped with a full kitchen unit that offers plenty of storage. You’ll find a hob, a Dometic 12v fridge, a sink with a pumped tap, oak worktops, and a tiled splashback. There’s also a Fiamma roof vent overhead, keeping things well-ventilated. Included in the sale will be cutlery and crockery alongside a few other bits to get you going.
The bed is a pull-out design that allows for a full-length walkway when it’s tucked away—perfect for transporting longer items like a mountain bike. Underneath the beds, there are generous storage spaces: one accessible from the top via two large hinged hatches, and both accessible through cutouts in the middle, as well as small doors at the rear. We’ve even added a handy shoe storage area to the right of the sliding door, where you’ll also find the lighting controls and a 12v outlet.
For utilities, there’s a water tank behind the driver’s seat, next to a gas locker that holds up to a 5kg LPG bottle. In terms of electronics, there is a control panel under the passenger seat, paired with a brand-new Yuasa L26-AGM 90Ah leisure battery. This is connected to a 20-amp Epever solar controller, a split charge relay, and 150W of solar panels on the roof. This setup provided more than enough power for a three-week off-grid adventure around Scotland, even when the weather wasn’t exactly sunny!
When it comes to heating, there’s an LPG gas heater and controller, which pumps out plenty of warmth when the temperature drops. While the fan does make a bit of noise when it’s running, the trade-off for the heat is totally worth it!
Lighting is sorted with six dimmable 12v spotlights, along with a string of fairy lights, offering plenty of illumination for those cozy evenings.
The setup is ideally suited for shorter trips, but Penny is more than capable of handling multi-week adventures if you’re up for it! We took her on a two-week tour around Europe, and I recently completed a solo three-week trip through Scotland. She performed flawlessly on both journeys. Once you get into your groove, everything starts to flow smoothly, making life on the road a lot easier.
