Conversion Description

This is an incredibly unique and bespoke van build inside a long wheelbase, high roof Renault Trafic. We purchased the hard-to-find LWB High Roof panel van in 2018 and put it in the capable hands of Marlin Conversions with a sketch of what we wanted.
The resulting van is spacious and comfortable, has a full width bed, and is thoroughly hard-wearing and practical… perfect for adventure travel.
Craftsmanship with the lining, insulation, flooring, wood-work and full electric install (12v and 240v) has given us so much freedom to roam.
The deep cycle 100ah 12v system with split charge relay means we have never run out of juice when travelling and the 240v hook up allows us to choose between stealth camping, campsites or visiting friends and family.

The van has a serious amount of storage thanks to the 2 x full-width overhead lockers, font and back, deep drawers in the kitchen unit and an overhead cabinet above the kitchen worktop. There is a decent amount of garage space under the bed / sofa as well, for BBQ gear, chairs, table, 240v cable, ramps, etc. A 400×400 Heki fully opening and lockable roof vent along with the sliding side windows has been perfect for keeping ventilation easy.

In the kitchen pod is a single burner butane-propane portable cooker and a pull-out, removable 15L fridge/coolbox which runs on the 12v system. This setup allows us to cook inside the van or outside, even down on the beach… and no gas install means no need for a certification.

There is a removable ‘buddy seat’ crafted in the same furniture board as the other cabinets which can house a porta-potty or be used for storage as you wish.

The van has 3 x 12v power sockets, 1 x fixed USB socket and 2 x 240V switchable plugs.
Lights are in 3 areas (main roof, above seating area / bed and above kitchen counter), roof and seating lights are dimmer controlled with on/off switches by the door and by the bed.

There is no plumbing / water system in the van. We have either used a water carrier stowed in the front locker or 2 litre water bottles (4 of which can be stored under the passenger seat). In our travels, we never found ourselves wishing we had a sink or a tap, so we never added one. There is a spare circuit for a water pump on the 12v system, and space in the kitchen top to add a sink if you wanted to.

We have added hooks and have a thick, thermal curtain for between the cab and the living area for keeping the living area snug and stealthy. The curtain has acoustic properties as well so kept us sleeping soundly even on the roadside.
