This unusual, spacious and off-grid capable campervan is our much-loved Mk II Ford Transit Ambulance Conversion, great for adventurous travellers looking for a reliable vehicle. Originally built with an Ambulance body, which is all fibreglass she was supplied to St John’s Ambulance brigade, the camper is based on the Ford transit pickup truck and is an easy drive with 5 speed gearbox and highly reliable 2.5 Litre diesel engine. Driven carefully you can achive 40 to 50 mpg and she has just over 108000 miles on the clock. These engines commonly last 500000 miles and more.
The van has a few minor bumps bangs scratches and some rust but she is 27 years old, so don’t expect a new van.
We had extensive work done for the last MOT including 6 new tyres, brake calipers, discs and pads front and rear, new cambelt and housing, new leisure and main batteries, centere section exhaust, extensive welding, replacement fridge/freezer and more. All documented for your inspection, we have bills for £4,500 for the recent work done. The gas has been reconnected following the fridge freezer replacement and works fine, with no leaks but I would advise a re-test by a qualified gas installer. The previous owner had the conversion from ambulance to a camper done and we had gas installation safety work done eg a fireproof safety cabinet for the gas bottle and a safety certificate issued when we bought her in 2008 . Not all vans have this. This campervan is great for festivals, outdoor events, camping, fishing trips etc etc. The MOT certificate is valid for another 4 months, and the V5 registration document is present. I dont think there are any others quite like it on the the road. A rare and unique campervan.
