Reluctant sale forced by ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone) in London. Have looked after this van like my baby since purchasing it in 2018 – kept on top of all the maintenance and conducted annual oil change and full service. No major work ever required, has always run like a dream.

The campervan

Kitchen

Two ring gas hob connected to 6kg Propane bottle in secure compartment, one gas bottle provided with the van.

Magnetic knife rack.

Kilner jars for food storage. Cabinets above kitchen worktop for storage.

Pull out drawers on runners for cutlery and utensils and cupboards for pots/ pans and plates etc.

Metal laminate worktop, easy to clean. Big sink for easier washing up.

Collapsable table for dining.

Upholstered bench seat with 4 large drawers for clothing storage.

Carbon monoxide/smoke alarm

Fit out

All the wooden panels are 12mm birch ply stained with danish oil.

Fully insulated under the floor and the walls with celotex panels – the ceiling with recycled plastic bottle insulation roll.

Cabinets are sprayed MDF.

Water

20-litre removable water tank that supplies water to the sink via a pump and waste goes inot removable 20ltr grey water tank. Hot water can be heated in a pan on the stove.

Toilet – There is space for a porta potty. Not included.

Garage/storage area

Under the bed there is ample storage for doing removals/ moving building materials or furniture. The bed frame can be removed and the bench seat to allow for a full 8โ€™ x 4โ€™ sheet of plywood for example creating the full volume of the original van capacity (minus the kitchen worktop).

Bed

There is a super comfy double size IKEA mattress, the bed is situated widthways in the van and measures 1.9mtr so likely not suitable for anyone over this height. Jean Claude sleeps 2 but has plenty of room underneath if someone wanted to camp out under the bed. The double bed measures 1.9mtr long x 1.4mtr wide. The walls on either side of the bed are carpeted for extra comfort.

There are 3 seats in the cab with belts. The driver plus two passengers. 2 people can fit comfortably in the main area.

The electrical system

Fitted and tested by 12v electrician.

Comprises two USB outputs for charging phones/ devices and a 240v 300W inverter used for charging laptops.

There is a split charge relay which charges a 240AMP HR leisure battery and a solar panel on the roof.

A 12V Waeco fridge with freezer compartment. Currently not working – reflected in price.

Sink with a submersible pump and electric tap.

Multiple LED lights including a dimmer in the bed area

Propex 2000e propane gas heater which blows hot air through a vent in the main compartment with the flick of a switch.

Pioneer head unit in the cab that you can connect to via Bluetooth when driving.

Appliance list;
Waeco 12V Fridge* needs repair
Propex 2000e propane gas heater
12v submersible water pump
Split charge relay
300W Inverter
2 x 240AMP HR Leisure batteries.
3 x LED Spotlights
3 x LED strip lights (one on a dimmer)
Solar panel with MPPT charge controller
Pioneer DAB CD Player (Cab)

Exterior

Spec;
5.54 mtrs long.
2.5mtr high
3.5tonne
2298 cc

With a low-profile solar panel and the sliding bulkhead panel (mural). The van can be super stealthy, more so than most self converted vans.

One small sliding window on the rear driver’s side.

Not so good bits

1 x Leisure battery has depleted as I didnโ€™t charge them over one winter. The system works fine from the other battery but the first one will likely need replacing.

Rear door, has always been a little out of alignment and has to be slammed shut but the central locking closes and the dead lock can be locked too.

Some wear and tear on the kitchen worktop.

The sprayed kitchen cabinets and units are scratched in places (not the best finish for a campervan in all honesty) these can easily be taken off the hinges and resprayed by a local joiner/ cabinet maker with a spray booth or could changed for something else.

The floor is quite scratched. Itโ€™s painted 18mm plywood with grey floor paint. I did have plans to lay tongue and groove or laminate flooring but never got round to it.

*Fixed drivers seat. The installed timber bulkhead for the kitchen units restricts the driver’s seat sliding back all the way. Iโ€™m 5โ€™11โ€ and is perfect for me but anyone taller or with really long legs might find this an issue.*

Front brake warning light on dash, from ABS to wheel arch – broken wire needs to be replaced. Doesnโ€™t affect the vehicle.

There is some obvious wear and tear from a vehicle this age, small scratches on the paint, cab interior and seats.

*Mirror on rear doors in picture not included

Mechanical History

Comes with full service history and manual.

Always passed the MOT first time.

Most recent MOT (Oct. 24) advisories and service carried out;

2 new tyres, brake pad set, number plate bulb replacement.

The van is not listed as a campervan with the DVLA.

Purchase/build history

This van began life as a double-glazing work van. I bought him after a long and careful hunt in 2018 and set about the conversion in my spare time over the next two years which was eventually completed in 2020 and perfectly timed for the end of the first lockdown where he provided a space for me and my wife to make sense of new circumstances by exploring the country and rediscovering the simple pleasures of a life spent in the great outdoors – these adventures even turned into a book deal and two years later Vanlife Cookbook was released – A book with 80 campervan-friendly recipes, sharing our knowledge on foraging, cooking over an open fire and making the most of what nature has to offer. In its own right the van is a part of vanlife history.

Weโ€™ll include a copy of the book in the van.
