Vehicle Description

1997 Laika Ecovip 200i A-class

We bought this motorhome in March 2022 and travelled in it full time for 5 months around the UK while between homes. We have now finished our adventures and would love to see someone else enjoy it as much as we have.
As a family of 3 we found the layout really spacious, comfortable and practical; much better than anything else we’ve seen. There is lots of storage space inside and out. Lots of seating including at the dining table, the sofa and swivelling front seats. The kitchen is great to cook in, with a 4 ring hob and a proper oven. The full sized double bed is super comfy, and stows away easily above the cab. We are both non smokers and have had no pets. It’s been a lovely home for us and we are really sad to say goodbye however we now have a house we’ll be moving to shortly.

This A-class motorhome is built on the superb Iveco chassis with a 2.5 litre turbo diesel engine that never let us down over 2500 miles across Wales and Scotland. It averages 20-25 mpg and will happily cruise at 60mph. It’s got 102115 miles (164338km) on the clock. It’s a left hand drive and weighs 4.2 tonnes so you will need a C1 driving licence. MOT expires 14th March 2023. V5C logbook present. Located in Tavistock, Devon.

We made several improvements including: new caravan door; new water pump; upgraded heating system to a diesel heater; 2 x brand new 115AH AGM leisure batteries; tracking device; we replaced the outdated and unsafe Gaslow system with 2 x Flogas bottles (11kg + 6kg still plenty left!) with bulkhead regulator. We had a full service carried out on 26th April 2022 by Thomas Auto Tec of Cornwall, specialists in motorhome servicing. They replaced oil, air and fuel filter, oil change, fuel treatment and many other checks.

Van:
Cam belt kit & bearings changed at 136k km/84k Miles.
Starts first time every time.
New exhaust & starter motor 2017.
Brake system overhauled in 2022.
Small oil leak listed in MOT but never been a problem.
5 speed manual transmission.
Dimensions: 3.3m high (including roof box), 2.3m wide and 6.8m long.

Caravan:
7 berths.
5 belted seats
Captain seats in front (both)
Drop down double bed above cab is very comfortable and convenient
Double fold-down bed where dining table is & 3 single beds including bunk beds.
Lovely quality wooden finish cupboards and interior (very retro).
Glass windows & fully insulated.
3 way fridge freezer, gas oven and 4 ring cooker.
5kw diesel heater.
New Shurflo water pump.
Gas water heater (original Jolly boiler).
Internal water tank (not sure of size but when full would last us 5-7 days).
Shower.
“Marine” toilet holds at least a week of normal business for two. Also a standard Thetford Cartridge for emptying.

Roof mounted solar panels (I think they’re 2 x 80W 12v).
Roof rack with roof box (300litre)
Bike rack for 4 bikes.
Tow bar.
Reversing camera.
Omnistor 4000 awning which is damaged but still works.
Various spares, jack & tools included for van & caravan.

Obviously with a vehicle this age there are some not so good things including: passenger door locking lever came off and is missing. You can still open and close the door, you just have to lock it from the outside. The fridge only works on hook up and 12v, not on gas. One of the under carriage storage compartments has significant rust, it’s not structural and is still used for tools and levelling ramps (included x3), but could easily be fixed with some welding. Shower works only with cold water. Bonnet hatch sticks so you need two people to open it, one to hold lever and one to lift the bonnet. Just a case of adjusting the tensioner. Dip stick is stuck and will need to be dislodged upon next oil change.

There are the usual marks expected of a vehicle of this age however this really is a lovely motorhome that is solidly built and feels like a real home. It always gets lots of compliments wherever we go and we are certain it will be enjoyed by whoever takes it.
