Detailed Information
Vehicle Description

A lovingly cared-for motorhome “Basil” with only three owners since 1998. We’ve owned him since 2013. He’s travelled only 107,000km (approx. 64,000 miles). MoT runs to 29 September 2025. There were no advisories at the last MoT and he’s passed almost every previous one except on minor things – you can check the history online.
First registered in June 1998 in Germany then brought into the UK in 2007 by the previous owner. We’ve had him since May 2013. I have the original German registration documents and also the DVLA documentation from 2007.

Bodywork is in very good condition. There is no significant rusting (there are a few superficial blemishes as you might expect from a 27 year-old vehicle). All paintwork is original – no re-sprays or filler.

The engine is the standard Ford Transit 2.5 turbo diesel into a five speed gearbox, which returns around 23-25 mpg when loaded. The cambelt was replaced in 2024, as was the turbocharger. The alternator and power steering belts, coolant, brake fluid, and starter cables were replaced in 2022, as were all of the tyres, including the spare. So, there shouldn’t be any major expenditure on the mechanics in the foreseeable future.

The van is left-hand drive, and there are four three-point seatbelts and two lap belts.

Conversion Description

Rimor is an Italian motorhome company and the conversion was done professionally in Italy, built on a German-built Ford Transit. We have manuals for the appliances, and for the vehicle itself, although they are mostly either in German or Italian. Features are:

Main area
– U-shaped lounge with removeable dining table – converts into a double bed
– Separate seating area for four with table – converts into a single/small double
– Two roof vents (replaced in 2021)
– Two electric fans
– TV/DVD player
– USB/12V charging outlets

Kitchen area
– Two burner gas hob
– Three way fridge (230V, 12V and gas)
– Gas water heater and gas room heater (we don’t use these – they both light though)

Bathroom
– Shower and washbasin
– Thetford cassette toilet with extractor fan that vents odours outside when the loo is in use
– Storage locker and cupboard

Cab
– Reversing camera
– Radio/CD with speakers in the cab and rear

Tanks and storage
– Fresh water tank (around 100 litres) with electric pump feeding the sink, bathroom and toilet
– Grey waste water tank with drain cock underneath the van
– Thetford cassette toilet
– Refillable gas tank: you can fill it with LPG at a petrol station which is much cheaper than gas bottles. This comes with adaptors for continental LPG pumps. There is room in the gas cupboard for a separate 6.5kg propane bottle if you wish
– Ample storage in cupboards, overhead lockers and under seats
– Large rear locker accessible from outside

General
– All windows in the motorhome part have double glazing and also fly mesh and blackout blinds (except the bathroom)
– Fly screen on door
– Rear mounted rack for three bikes
– Wind-out awning
– Electric hook-up and on-board charger for the vehicle’s batteries

The not-so good bits
While the van is in very good condition, there are a couple of things that need attention
– The toilet cassette door has a leak and lets rainwater in – this needs repairing (see picture)
– The wind-out awning is temperamental and needs supporting when winding back in. It’s fine when extended or closed up. It just doesn’t like the process of being wound back in.

Beds Description

There are three sleeping areas:
– Double above the cab permanently in place
– Double at the rear in the U-shaped lounge which converts from the seats and dining table
– Single (double at a push) in the mid position that converts from the travelling seats and table
