Vehicle Description

2014 CITROEN RELAY 35 L3 HDi. 2.2L

We purchased the Citroen Relay which we call “SARGE” from the MOD in oct 2019.
Therefore it had an excellent service history when we purchased it.
It was used by the 1st Battalion Scots Guards for the ferrying of troops and ammunition.
We have continued the servicing of and have full service history receipts and documents.
It has a current mot which expires April 2025.
Low mileage: 69,796.
Diesel.
6 gear manual gearbox.
Air conditioning.
Radio/CD player in the cab.
We had the long seat taken out of the cab and had two individual seats mounted. This allowed us to
put a cosy dog bed between the seats so that our small dog could enjoy travelling with us in the cab.
We wanted easy access between the rear and the cab. This is via an arched open doorway with a curtain.
Reversing camera.
Roller bar roof rack for the storage of kayaks with:
Fitted ladder to rear to access roof.
Two rear portholes which open for ventilation.
Side door with window with a further side window opposite.

Conversion Description

We looked high & low for a company that could achieve the kind of conversion that we were dreaming of.
We wanted a conversion that would allow us to use the van off grid or on a site with electric hook up facilities.
We found Shred & Butta in Surrey. We worked closely with Jim, Paul and the boys throughout the conversion and visited them regularly as the work progressed. Jim, Paul and the team were fantastic to work with from start to finish. Following the conversion, Jim and Paul were featured on a TV show, Carry on Glamping, starring Johnny Vegas.

Fully insulated.
Reclaimed wood to the inner rear which is varnished with a slight scorched effect.
An enclosed toilet room that had easy access during the day or at night without clambering down a ladder.
Brass push catches to both doors.
An individual industrial light internally with a pull switch.
Porta potti.

A double fixed bed to the rear with a garage area underneath the bed.
A great area for the storage of larger items including a large drinking water container.
Exterior picnic table and chairs.
Other leisure items inc. fishing tackle, kayak and paddle board accessories.

A double cupboard with a wooden peg, bottom cupboard with a poker work mark: GAS.
A gas bottle with a monitor attached showing the amount of gas left in the bottle.
The upper cupboard is a large area with storage space which we use for food, tins etc.
The gas was installed by a professional gas installer.
Due to lock down, we were unable to get a certificate but this is available at about £80.

A cupboard with brass push button catches.
Internally two large leisure batteries.
These power two large solar panels located on the roof.
The electrics offering an off grid or hook up switch.
The electrics were installed by a professional electrician.
An electric socket.

To the side of the cupboard, by the bed, is the mounted, remote control panel with the switches for the:
water, fridge and oven.
To the left of: is the mounted Autotherm controls for the heating.
Sarge has had an Autotherm Planer diesel heater fitted with the heat coming from the base of the bed.
It also blows out cold air if required.

A cupboard, again with a push button catch are:
two brand new large plastic bottles. One is for the waste water which comes from the sink.
The sink is an antique copper jam bowl. The other bottle is for clean water which travels through a copper pipe via a water pump into the copper bowl.
A red tap for on & off.

The oven, a Thetford Spinflo Triplex cooker with x3 gas rings, oven and grill with lid gas shut off.
We have found the cooker to be very versatile.
A combination stove, grill and oven with the lid being easy to clean.

The fridge is a Dometic fridge/freezer.
The fridge/freezer works independently from the leisure batteries and therefore does not drain the batteries.
Whilst travelling the fridge/freezer can be left on.
When the campervan is not in use, the door has a catch leaving the fridge door slightly open allowing air to circulate.

By the side door, there is a metal recess in the floor.
This takes a stainless steel hollow pole which the table, reclaimed varnished table top with a stainless steel locator underneath which fits into the pole.
To the left of the side door internally is a reclaimed wooden bench seat which when the hinged lid is opened has storage underneath.
Opposite is a mounted black steel bench seat which came from a Land Rover.
Both have a padded bench cushion with an antique matching fabric.

Above the oven to the rear are Victorian half tiles with various patterns.
Antique fabric fitted curtains to both side windows mounted on copper pipes.
Similar curtains mounted again on copper pipes to the port holes at the rear.
Sarge comes with a set of thermal window blinds for the windscreen and the side windows of the cab.

Beds Description

a fixed double bed to the rear of the van with a garage storage area underneath.
