The first thing anyone who sees the her for the first time, is just how spacious she is. Having spent years looking at both Campervans and coach built vans we were put off taking the dive into full-time van-life until Mark came up with the amazing use of space in both Fiat Ducato vans that he has built.
Noting that so much space is wasted with the mass-produced vans that are evident in most show rooms, Mark has been able to make use of every spare cm of space. We’re confident you will feel the same way too.

Vehicle Description Summary.

The Standard Van Spec:
Jourgie comes with the fabulous and rare Mercedes ZF 9 Speed automatic and the powerful 160 BHP 2.3 litre engine, which we have upgraded to 190BHP via a £550 Tunit programmable console. This makes light work of mountainous roads, and improves economy if you choose not to use the extra power.

The Conversion Info:
The van comes with full all around 82% tint glass, creating a mobile conservatory feel, with both driver and passenger 1st window with slides and bug screens. These are covered by the excellent Van-X double material black out curtains. These help to keep the heat in or out, but also maintain privacy at night time when you’re parked in public areas. No-one knows you’re there!
The van is completely covered in DoDo sound proof matting, for both sound and heat insulation and then covered in the 1″ super efficient (and expensive) Thinsulate™ insulation. This is super light weight and is used in industrial areas where weight and efficiency matters, also used in ski clothing.
The exposed areas of the van are carpeted in quality carpet covering and then lined with stunning Red Cedar tongue and groove. This was chosen for its beauty but also its light weight.
The cupboards are all hand made from the quality Moorland timber board. Again chosen for their quality, strength and light weight. None of your wobbly flimsy board here. Set into the bottom of the cupboards, in 5 different, separate zones are the remote controlled, dimmable lighting systems. All operating on low voltage 12v they ad a limitless amount of ambience to the living experience. The majority are of the warm light variety, but for those winter morning we have our bright ‘sunshine’ lights, and in the lounge area are set our fun multi-coloured lights for when you want to party!

The front seats both spin round to create an even more spacious feel when you’re parked up for the night or for when you choose to leave the bed down.

All the controls are where you would expect them to be: Virtually all manufacturers insist on grouping all the controls in one out-of-reach place. So when you want the heating on or off or just to switch on the lights you have to get out of bed. In Jourgie, two of the lights are when you come into the van. The other controls are right beside you in the lounge or bed, along with the heater controls. The water pump with is right beside the sink.

As you would expect there is an abundance of facilities for charging phones and laptops, both 12v and 240v.

The van has undergone a total renovation in the last 12 months. Comprising:
2 living rooms/dining rooms, with beautiful Oak Table and Lagun table mount
Rear U shaped lounge converting to huge 6’2” x 6’ double bed. The conversion time takes less than 5 minutes from lounge to made up bed.
Front seating lounge with 2nd Lagun table mount.
‘Single Homie’ dual zone induction hob can also be used as one single large hob, set in a beautiful oak worktop.
Rectangular stainless steel sink with quality mixer tap and combined water filter. Lift up and down extension to the work top made in Bamboo.
The seating area has been completely reupholstered last year, as there was such a waiting time.
Small Oak block shelves for ornaments or phone, but included wine glass cut out to minimise spills etc.
Hidden shower room, which houses our home-made composting toilet. An allowance will be made for a top-spec portable potty up to £200. The shower/loo was build hidden to create a really airy feel when in the van. The ‘room’ also house a pull out hanging wardrobe.
The shower head is a quality “bum gun” and extension which conveniently attach to the sink tap, to conserve water. This is long enough to shower inside or outside. We have never showered inside.
Hot water is supplied via a Propex 240v low power (800w) heater which is powered easily from the electric system.
Rear seating area has the 24” Samsung smart TV and superb Bose Surround sound speaker bar. We use portable data for the smart tv and use an Apple TV to expand the facilities. We use a Huawei 4G router and unlimited SIM card for most tv watching. The router also has an external top of the range roof mounted aerial. Advice can be given on all aspects of internet including abroad.
Extensive storage below all seating areas, with hinged access to all areas. Rear garage big enough for 2x folding electric bikes.

400ah Lithium batteries (4x 100ah Super hi quality batteries each one retail price over £700). The lithium batteries are not to be underestimated. They maintain in excess of 13v right down to 10% power (only ever happened once but impressive) and only dropping below 13v when using lots of cooking power etc Long term electric cooking would not be possible with ordinary lead acid batteries.
ABSO BMT 1250 50A Marine quality Battery to Battery charger and combined 50A MPPT Solar charger.
TBS “Expert-Modular” Top of the Range Battery monitor £250 new. Extensive monitoring but mainly used for amps and watts being used and battery charge percentage.
