IN BRIEF
Flo is a one-of-a-kind stealth campervan that will ensure the most time off-grid. She is equipped with a high-spec electrical system powered by two Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries. In all her travels, I have never run out of electricity! The van was a passion project during the pandemic, so no expense was spared, plus a great deal of time, thought and craftsmanship has been put into every aspect of the build. Flo would be most suitable for single travellers, perhaps even with a shorter companion. She is reluctantly being sold because I’m looking to begin another conversion in Australia.

Flo has two key features which set her apart from most vans. Firstly, it is her stealthy exterior appearance. There are very few tell-tale signs that would reveal her precious interiors. Secondly, Flo has been designed without gas (one less thing to worry about!). Flo’s cooking facilities are fully electric and powered by two lithium batteries, solar panels and an alternator so you could live comfortably for several days without charging the battery with a cable. She’s the ultimate off-grid companion!

Regarding generating power, Flo boasts 320W of solar panels mounted to the roof, 60A battery-to-battery alternator and shore power charging through hookup. A 1600w Renogy inverter provides mains power throughout the van in addition to the 12v power system. This also features a built-in trickle charge to keep the van’s starter battery at an appropriate voltage – no jump leads are necessary here!

FEATURES IN DETAIL
———-

VENTILATION & INSULATION:
Flo is fully insulated with thermal insulation board in the floor, ceiling, walls and bulkhead with recycled bottle wool insulation in the cavities and doors. Each is accompanied by a layer of ‘Therma Wrap’ bubble foil insulation as a vapour barrier and sound-deadening pads to create a rattle-free quiet ride. Photos are available of the conversion process including installation of insulation upon request. Ventilation is provided by an overhead MaxxAir Fan with a controller. An optional privacy curtain is available to separate the front cabin from the living area.

LOUNGE:
The seating area is a multipurpose space with custom-made foam seat cushions and backrests. A section of the worktop can be mounted to the bracket to create a table for eating and working. Mains outlets and USB ports provide power for phones, laptops or almost anything else. The seat base lifts to reveal access to a laundry bin and the leisure batteries. The front cabin double passenger seat can be swivelled to multiply the seating area capacity.

KITCHEN:
The kitchen stretches lengthways with a 12v fridge, cutlery drawer, storage drawer, large sink basin, tap with extendable hose and Simploo composting toilet. Cooking is handled by a portable 800w induction stove – I am blown away by how effective this is! The headliner has a great amount of storage capacity.

WATER SYSTEM:
A removable water container is located under the sink. From there, the water is drawn and circulated through a 12v Shurflo water pump and filter. An accumulator tank is built into the system to allow for smooth water flow and equal pressure. Grey water from the kitchen sink is stored in a removable container that can be accessed via the kitchen or garage.

ELECTRICS:
This van houses two large Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries which create 240 amp hours of power. A 1600w Renogy inverter provides mains power to all 230v sockets. The battery can be charged via three sources: solar, engine and hook-up (mains) power. The data and state of charge can be viewed on the Victron app which links to the system via Bluetooth. An electrical schematic can be provided alongside other documentation and usage guides if required.

– (2x) 120ah 12v Lithium Iron Phosphate Batteries
– Victron MultiPlus Compact Inverter (12|1600|70)
– Victron SmartSolar MPPT 20A Charge Controller
– Sterling 12V 60A Battery-to-Battery Charger
– (2x) 160w Monocrystalline Panels
– Victron Lynx Distributor
– Victron 500A SmartShunt Bluetooth Battery Monitor

STORAGE & CABINETS:
There is a large under-bed garage area with electrics and water systems compactly stored above the wheel arches for maximum capacity. The kitchen space was designed to allow the space for a bike to be rolled and stored beneath; a floor mount has been installed to sturdy the frame with velcro straps for the wheel to hang above. Kitchen cabinets and the living space surfaces were painted with a durable, easy-to-wipe paint. All cupboards and drawers are soft-closing with latches that do not open in transit.

Beds Description

This bed was designed width-ways to increase the living space capacity (not ideal for a tall person). The back of the seating, made with custom foam cushions, lifts to extend the width of the bed. Once it’s fully extended, the mattress is approximately 150x148cm. For reference, I’m 168cm. I sleep diagonally on the bed.

Quirky loves this style means that Quirky Campers would potentially approve this vehicle for hiring. However, Quirky have not approved a Gas Safe certificate, a Weighbridge certificate, or the vehicle's electrics. Buyers must check these themselves. For some tips on what to look out for read this. If the listing has no Gas Safe certificate, no unladen weight and no electrical sign-off please proceed with caution!
