Gilbert really is one of a kind, you will not find another like him, his style is inspired by vintage VWs from the 60s, but with all the mod cons of a top spec base van – Ford Custom Limited Trim which includes: Air Conditioning, DAB Radio, USB connectivity, Hands Free Calling, heated front seats, heated windscreen and reversing sensors.

This bespoke camper is a professional build, we designed it and local companies built it for us. We have owned Gilbert for 5 years, first off during covid, so we didn’t get to use it for some time, but we’ve had some fantastic trips away. The limited use in the first few years means that internally and externally he is in excellent condition, with very low mileage 41,000.

Gilbert has also given us a side hustle over the last few years, where we have made extra cash from hiring out in between our trips. We’ve hired on Quirky Campers, always to 5 star reviews. We have discussed with Quirky and should the buyer wish to hire out Gilbert, he has been pre-approved for hire, so should be a really easy transfer over.

He has everything you need for on and off-grid camping.

MOT- he will come with a new MOT and has virtually a full service history. Very well maintained, including the following (we have kept all receipts):

Gas safety certificate March 2024.
New break pads and discs back and front – Nov 23 & Aug 24.
New tyres x 3 March 2024.
New van battery 2023.
New leisure battery June 2024.

We bought the base van after a long and careful hunt from a dealership with 22k miles on the clock and just one previous owner, we made certain to get the best base van possible. We did the same with our previous campervan (Betty Bongo) we had her for 5 years and she was was over 20 years old when we sold her, and still is super condition.

The wooden units and oak floor were hand built in pine by Van Furniture, and painted in Farrow & Ball; insulated walls & floor, and carpeted; R&R bed (M1 tested – certificate provided) upholstered to match the pop-top; buddy seats (stored away when travelling) by Rusty Lee. We sourced it all ourselves and had it professionally converted by a few local companies.

Sleeps 4 – 2 adults and 2 children – R&R bed 6.2ft length. and roof 6ft length.
Skyline Elevating Roof (Pop-top) – laguna colour, waterproof, we upgraded to bed with memory mattress and the scenic upgrade – this can be unzipped and opened up for star gazing. Roof can be put up during the day for added head room. July 24 roof seal replaced by Skyline.
Leisure battery (June 2024) allows for 3-5 days off-grid depending upon energy needs, charged when driving.
Three 12 volt USB sockets, one in the roof; two sets of led lights in main living area and one in the roof.
Electric hook up point. Two 3-point plug sockets (240v) can be used through the electric hook – hook-up lead provided.
Bespoke table – I saw one similar in a vintage VW, sent the picture to the cabinet maker who designed one for us, great for eating and playing games, attaches to side of units and stores away when travelling.
Waeco CRX50 Compressor Fridge – these are the best compressor fridges on the market, 48 litres and 5 litre freezing compartment.
Two gas hobs. Sink with tap linked to 20ltr water container.
Carbon monoxide alarm & fire extinguisher.
Plenty of storage in cupboards for kitchen utensils; under the r&r bed; overhead units x 3; cupboard under the sink with shelf; a huge cupboard in the units with shelf, and 3 draws.
Privacy glass windows in the back including 2 in barn doors, 1 passenger door and an opening window on driver’s side.

Body work of the camper is in excellent condition, with a few age related surface scratches, and a small dent to the plastic back bumper.

Bed top dimensions – 6ft long x 4ft wide. Bed in cab 6.2ft x 3.8ft. Height (approx) 2.05m.
