Mercedes Sprinter 2.2 turbo diesel MWB
The conversion is based on a 2148cc turbo diesel Mercedes Sprinter. The vehicle was originally a Swansea Police Forensic Investigations support vehicle. Once decommissioned by Swansea Police the vehicle belonged to a Swansea Auto Electrician. This was followed by ownership by two Chartered Electrical Engineers. The second of these being me.
The emphasis and very real focus of the camper van conversion was to combine comfort and ease of use both as a working vehicle (for example sliding door and double rear door access are maintained) and as a leisure vehicle by minimising the weight of the camper piece parts to maximise fuel consumption. This focus on weight saving has resulted in a fully fitted out weight including a full tank of diesel of only 2420kg. This gives a huge amount of ‘headroom’ in what can be loaded into the van. The gearbox is manual with 5 forward and one reverse gear. The vehicle has just had a MOT done until July 14th 2024 with no advisories and the camper is all set for immediate use. The engine is in very good condition and has only covered a low mileage.
The vehicle has been subject to a detailed improvement programme over the last five and a half years. This programme has involved £7,000 of expenditure. A considerable amount of work has been undertaken on the under body and upper areas. The under body underwent a full professional renovation and waxoyl treatment in June 2020; the upper body was resprayed British Army green from the original white in February 2021. A detailed spreadsheet which shows the mileage build since August 2012 along with all background information with receipts of what was done and when by me since January 2018 when I acquired the Sprinter, will be supplied with the vehicle.
A comprehensive camper conversion with all contents included in the sale so it is ready for immediate use, it has great versatility and can be used as a working van and is equally suitable for habitation, it has a mains hook up and long lead, the fridge works off either gas or the leisure battery, there are 2 gas cylinders, there is a gas hob and grill, the sink has running water, there is a separate cubicle area with portable loo and wash basin, there is comprehensive lighting plus a 13 amp socket and plenty of 12 volt power points, both the vehicle battery and the leisure battery have been replaced in the last 2 months. In the cab is a rear view camera for reversing, the van also has a awning rail and awning plus tow bar wiring and socket. This is a reluctant sale after many years of happy use, it has been a much loved and admired camper van and comes with 3 keys ready to drive off to your first adventure.
