Number of owners.

It is with a heavy heart that our beloved Toyota Hiace off grid campervan is up for sale due to purchasing a larger van to better suit our needs.
We have owned it for nearly 3 years and put nearly 20,000km behind the wheel, 3 long trips to Scotland including Christmas 2021 without any issues and multiple smaller trips around Wales and England.

During my ownership I have completed all the ‘big’ jobs surrounding these vehicles, I had the radiator recored, new rad hoses at the same time had all the belts, crank pulley, crank and cam seal replaced too, not because they were leaking just preventive maintenance while the radiator was removed. When I purchased the vehicle there was a few small rust spots these have all been repaired and arches sprayed in rough raptor paint for prolonged protection and the rest of the underside waxed oiled.

CONVERSION
The hiace was originally converted by a company called vantech in Japan, but there is minimal bits left from this original conversion. Previous owner had the van fully stripped and redesigned, using lightweight furniture ply and a U shape rear lounge. This conversion was designed for use on campsites with minimal off grid capability. This didn’t suit our needs so I made some changes to make it for fully off grid use.
This included fitting a 12v compressor fridge/freeze from bearmach, we have this running continuously while away with no issues what so ever plenty of room for beers and food! We then upgraded the electrical system which included a VSR with the correct 16mm2 cable and resettable fuses which double as isolators. Two new vitara 90ah leisure batteries and a 100w solar panel fitted to the top box, I used the biggest cable I could fit into the solar controller to limit voltage drop over the distance of the cable providing as much charge to the batteries as possible. Then a general tidy up of the cables as they were a mess.
We then changed the set up of the seating/sleeping area as we didn’t find the cushions comfy enough for us and wanted to reduce the setup time for bed time. So I designed and built a very simple but effective rock n roll inspired bed, this features a tri fold full size double mattress which is extremely comfy we have spent up to two weeks sleeping on the bed with zero issues. I have the old cushions to recreate the U shape lounge if the new owner wishes.
Finally our most recent upgrade and definitely our favourite upgrade is the diesel heater making the hiace a fully compatible all year round off grip campervan. This is the popular 2kw Chinese heater and performs faultlessly, with the separate 10litre tank you can use cheaper alternatives to fuel the heater!

Other equipment in the camper includes a 2 hob and grill stove with 2x 2.75kg gas canisters, a sink with 10L fresh and grey waste containers, fiamma awning, plenty of storage for the size of the van, especially with the large roof box.

NOT SO GOOD BITS
As pictured there are a couple spots of surface rust, zero structural rust. Couple of small dents and scratches which would be expected with a vehicle of this age.
The screws holding the rear number plate lights have corroded and snapped while I was replacing the bulbs but all works just hang down a little could be sorted if you want but it never bother me.

If I could keep this van I would, we have had amazing memories in the van and it found us our love of campervans, there is nothing wrong and is ready from its next multiple thousand km trip tomorrow, a brilliant example of the model!
