Toyota Hiace twin axle.

This is possibly the most unique Toyota Hiace in the UK. Originally modified at the home of Hiace mods in Japan. Imported to the UK 2004. This is a six wheeler with super long wheel base. While in Japan it undertook major modifications to be a unique and head turning day van, including major body lengthening and the addition of a trailing tag-axle, new fibreglass bespoke roof and a killer paint job, plus engine upgrade to the super reliable 2L-T engine (2.4 litre turbo diesel) and gearbox upgrade from original auto box to a very rare and sought after manual 5 speed. Also some awesome alloys on it.

Amazingly, the front of the van from the rear wheels forwards is in absolutely excellent condition and always has been. However time has not been too kind on the rear end of this gorgeous vehicle. I took it on a couple of years ago with a completely rotten back door and rear tailgate aperture and rot around the rear wheel arches. I have since replaced all the rot with new, fabricated steel

The undercarriage has already been overhauled including suspension, brakes and undercarriage restoration. Underneath it looks like new. The rear end has all been welded and made structurally safe as mentioned above. Since that work, the van passed its last MOT in such condition.

I have also overhauled the engine, ignition system, brakes, suspension, hubs, tires.

It’s now waiting for the next owner to restore the bodywork (filler/fibreglass) on the back end and complete the interior overhaul that I have begun.
Seperation from spouse has caused situation change and I can no longer afford to complete the job.

I had full plans to make this the most unusual and funky camper in the UK. My plans included installation of automatic rear diff locker to increase rear traction when manoeuvring on uneven/soft ground. Addition of bespoke pop up roof with reinforcement of upper body frame to take aerial bed. Full camper fit out. All my planning, drawings, pricing and contacts for parts will come with sale. The van is unique in that it can take 2x 6 metre kayaks internally even with the interior design that I had planned.

Buyer may wish to abort the full camper conversion that I had planned on preference to a day surf/kayak van. In which case it would simply cost a few thousand in rear bodywork (all steelwork complete. Only bodyfiller and rear end respray required) and rear respray.

Would suggest just a rear end respray to make the van two tone. Front half of the van is immaculate so would not need the extra expense of full respray.

The van will need approximately 8 grand to complete the full and ambitious conversion that I had planned. However I believe this vehicle would then be worth around £20,000.

FYI plan included fitting of double rear seats and 2x double beds making it 4 berth for accommodation. And capable of carrying up to five people while driving.
