When doing this conversion, I had one thing in mind and that was simplicity. I wanted the van to allow the user to enjoy the beauty of vanlife, without the van itself getting in the way. The van should facilitate your adventures, not be the focus of them. This meant making the van simple and functional, meaning you can spend as much time as possible enjoying yourself. To sell, I have had the van repainted, so you can decorate the van to suit your needs.
The focus of the van is the wood burner. Handmade by Anevay Stoves in Cornwall (and fitted by them to HETAS regulations), the stove serves both as the main heat source and the method of cooking. The lid of the stove hinges up, allowing you to place a pot on the stove with direct heat from the fire below. Whether you have been walking in the Scottish highlands, or coming in from a surf in Cornwall, there is nothing like putting your feet up by the fire, a pot of soup gently cooking away on top, and a cup of tea in your hands.
One problem many vans have is storage. This van has been designed to give you as much storage as possible. The under bed storage that is accessed from the side door is the full width of the van (about 1.7m) giving you plenty of room to store wetsuits, skateboards, climbing gear, and skis. For those things that do not fit under, the van comes with a roof rack. The rack makes it simple to attach any of the bigger things you need for your adventures, such as kayaks, surfboards, bikes, or a roof box for that extra gear.
Everyone’s experience with vanlife is different, but whether you have ambitious adventures planned, or just want somewhere cozy to go on the weekend, I hope that this van could become your van.
