Welcome everyone to this high tech Caddy Maxi camper conversion. This project has been 18 months in the making, leaving no stone unturned.
After viewing the Caddy California upon its release, we were disappointed with what was on offer at the set price tag, so this project made the seemingly impossible a reality.
This van is still a five seater with boot space, perfect for everyday use and shopping trips, but the real magic happens when you reach the campsite.
First thing to do is stop and relax with a nice cold beer from the fridge (not cool box), before setting up. You can be on or off grid, you decide. Before you leave home, you can charge the lithium iron leisure battery, or simply leave that to the vehicle as you drive there. The intelligent charging system will keep that battery in top condition for a minimum of 10 years. Want a hook up on site? No problem. Want to stay green and plug in a solar panel (not included)? No problem. Whatever your choice, you will still have 240v ac in the van, due to the 1000 watt inverter. Perfect for a small hairdryer or even a small kettle and don’t worry, whatever you choose the intelligent charging system will make sure that battery stays in top shape.
As it gets colder at night, no need to bring a heater. Just turn on the programmable Erbaspacher D2 Diesel night heater. Taking its fuel supply directly from the vehicle fuel tank, this heating system will keep you cosy all night long, even if your sat in a drive away awning, the heater has enough power to put out sufficient heat to it. All the equipment added has been purchased from top manufacturers to ensure the safety and security of the conversion and to make it problem free for years to come. Also, everything added during the conversion (including roof lights and tailgate lights) takes its power only from the leisure battery, the vehicle electric’s have not been compromised at all.
