VW Caravelle Executive 140 TDI Reflex Silver. I bought the van in October 2020 and had it as my daily driver up until a year ago, it is low mileage for the year having covered around 93k miles. It is a high spec van with the 7 speed DSG, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, front and rear climate control, front heated seats, electric windows, electrically heated and folding mirrors, auto wipers DAB radio, satellite navigation, rear tailgate and twin side loading doors for example.
Exterior additions include roof rails and bars, a removable tow bar, side running rails, rear spoiler and 20″ Wolfrace Wolfsburg Black/Polished wheels. The vehicle log book states MPV Diesel car.
The service book is full of stamps from new and I have continued the service records to date. It was last serviced January 2025 at 92,742 miles and the MOT will be due 12/6/2025. The Cambelt, DSG oil etc. was last replaced October 2021 at 74,358 miles. The engine is strong and quiet and this camper is comfortable to drive, the bodywork is reflective of age and mileage.
I diligently converted this van into a camper gradually after I purchased it and we were able to draw on our experiences of other van conversions to make it as practical and comfortable as possible when camping and in general use. We have found that some small considerations make campers easier in use including being able to open the fridge when the bed is down and filling up the water tank without driving to the tap!
The vehicle itself is very comfortable benefitting from the Caravelle spec with full glass and sunblinds, A/C all around and sound insulation. I have used good electrical equipment as well as Morland lightweight furniture plywood in three colours with exposed plywood edges. We have mainly used it for days out and “off grid” camping and the Lithium battery and solar panel are useful if you prefer not to be plugged in. There is scope to adapt the van to suit yourself of course but the current spec includes –
Unique underfloor storage front and rear, 3/4 width rock and roll bed with matching seat fabric, handmade curtains, 12v fridge with removable freezer compartment, twin gas hob, cold water sink with removable water tank, plenty of storage including removable trays and quick access for cups, tea coffee etc. There are awning rails on both sides and I can include the sun shade and airbeam awning with two birth inner tent if needed.
There is a full 12v system with a 100amp lithium leisure battery, led lighting including reading lights, coloured camping lights inside and out and USB charging points. The leisure battery can be charged using the powerful CTEK charger when driving , the Victron Energy 240v charger when plugged in or by using the solar panel. The 12v system can be monitored via the Victron screen or using the Victron App or battery monitoring app. I mount the solar panel on the roof bars which gives me the option to move it to the ground if parked in the shade. The 240v system includes 240v outlets and the leisure battery charger.
Apart from the under floor storage, under and over counter cupboards, there is side storage behind a tambour door, lots of under bed storage accessed from front or rear, rear wardrobe storage, a place for your camping chairs as well as a mount for the camping table under the tailgate.
Both the front seats have swivel bases so four people can eat at the table inside, there are several other table options inside and out and I used the 2nd side door to optimise access to cupboard space and provide a slide out cooker and table if you wish to cook outside. The double doors are also handy for ventilation.
Stylish, well thought through and comfy! All set and ready for new adventures. There is a lot to list and I will have missed things, give me a call with your questions or come and take a look if you are serious about buying.
Streamline Autobeds 3/4 width M1 tested rock and roll bed with matching charcoal vinyl and steel suede upholstery and blue piping. Two headrests and two seatbelts. Comfortably sleeps two adults. (I am 6’6″)
