VW Crafter Highline TDI
The Base Van
This is a VW Crafter 2019, 2 litre Highline. It features Adaptive Cruise Control (which is amazing on long drives) and a screen that can link to your phone for google maps, Spotify, etc and is ULEZ compliant. It has done just over 100k miles and will come serviced and MOT’d (it’s also worth noting that its cambelt has recently been replaced). The drivers seat has double arm rests and for extra security the doors have been fitted with deadlocks. A further upgrade are the BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires which are particularly useful when leaving wet campsites!
The quality of this conversion is excellent with high spec kit used. The front seats swivel very easily and the back passenger seats are comfortable and easily removable if you prefer to have the space on a longer trip. It features a Maxxfan roof vent / fan system, a Dometic fridge, a sink with 30l water tanks, a double gas hob fitted with a campingaz 907 bottle safe, a pull out kitchen prep table, a Thetford porta potti, usb and 3 pin plug sockets and an Autoterm Comfort Control diesel heater that has kept us comfortable in sub zero temperatures.
Seats
The front seats swivel easily to face the back. The drivers seat has double arm rests and both recline and are comfy for long journeys. The back seats are very comfy, recline-able with arm rests and fold flat, upright or are easy to remove completely if you want more space for a trip. The end of the single bed also acts as a comfy seat when lounging at the camp site.
Storage
It has plenty of storage with 3 large cupboards above the kitchen and bed area, 2 storage selves above the cab, a cupboard under the kitchen and a huge garage space. We have split the garage into a front and back section and have space for a surf board to fit down the side of the single bed.
Electric
The van can be plugged in if required but as it has 3 solar panels on the roof feeding a 12v 100Ah Bluetooth Lithium Iron Phosphate battery, so it works very well off grid. We have regularly used this van in sub zero temperatures and had the heater and fridge running all night. The bluetooth system means you can connect to your battery and see exactly what is the state of charge / voltage etc at any time. There is a converter which will convert to standard 3pin plug sockets. There are usb sockets around the van as well for charging smaller devices. There are small lights for reading and 2 led strip lights mounted above and below the cupboards to give good even light.
We are sorry to see this van go. Sadly we don’t have time for any significant adventures this year and it’s time to pass her on. If you would like more photos or have any questions feel free get in touch.
The flare on the side of the van allows for a full length (and width) double bed. I am just shy of 6 foot and sleep comfortably stretched out. The single bed underneath is full length but skinny at around 60cm. There is also space to set up a child’s bed on the floor (160cm long) with three mattress cushions provided for this purpose.
