Vehicle Description

You have heard of “Van Life”, well, this is “Truck Life” and is for those of you that don’t want to spend your life bent over when your stood up, or for those that want that bit more space and luxury!

Meet DAFney! She is a 2004 DAF LF45.140. She only has 128,500 miles on the clock and has had an easy life. She is a 3.9 diesel and is MOTd until 30th April 2023 (although it doesn’t show up on DVLA check site as we had her done as a commercial vehicle the last 2 years).

In the cab she is fitted with an analogue tacho (though she is tacho exempt when used as a Motorhome)and has a new DAB face off radio with Bluetooth hands free car kit and audio streaming.

She is an ex-MOD box truck and clearly had very little use. She has 2 new tyres on the front and plenty of tread on the rears. Previous owner had coated exposed areas of metalwork with red oxide and there is only some very minor areas of surface rust here and their.

The previous owner advised that the box van was converted by an ex-soldier who was a ski instructor and he lived in this truck in the Swiss Alps whilst teaching skiing.

It has a king size bunk (with brand new mattress never slept on). Underneath is a dinette (sits 6) that converts to another king size bunk, with cushions made from the most expensive, deepest and firmest foam rubber. Mood lighting and 2 USB ports with voltmeters that shows the status of the starter and leisure batteries. The dinette has masses of storage underneath as well as housing the propex heating.

The lounge area has 2 faux leather recliner chairs around the Clarke Thames 4kw log burner in the winter or which can be taken out onto the tail lift of an evening to watch the sun go down whilst sipping glasses of Prosecco in the summer.

In addition to the log burner is a Propex LPG blown air heating for those evenings where you might need a little boost and can’t be bothered to light the fire.

Kitchen area has a brand new 2 burner gas hob and sink combined with hot water being provided by a Propex Malaga SE water heater. To keep the Prosecco cold there’s a Dometic 3 way fridge. There’s also a full size kitchen unit fitted with 4 pull out IKEA type baskets for food, crockery, cutlery, pots and pans etc.

Now for the all important bathroom. It has a Thetford cassette toilet with shower and wash hand basin.

Moving towards the back we have a floor to ceiling very deep cupboard for clothing and other essentials and a 2 drawer filing cabinet for any incidentals. Above this is the services cupboard with water tank, water heater, leisure batteries, Victron Phoenix 12 / 800 inverter feeding all electrical sockets (see below) and a Victron dc to dc charger which charges your leisure batteries as you drive. We were going to fit solar but have never needed it since we installed this.

Vehicle is also fitted with electric hookup which feeds a double socket with USB ports in the lounge/kitchen, a double socket on the top bunk and a single socket by the USB ports on the side of the dinette. There is also a spare 240v feed inside the dinette.

The back corner has two exit doors, one on the rear accessed using the tail lift as a step when set about 50% height and one on the near side, accessed using a ladder that hangs on the back of the door. This doubles up as a bunk ladder for accessing the rear bunk.

Starter batteries are 24v. Leisure batteries are 12v, as 12v appliances are cheaper and more readily available (12v tv can be bought for around £100).

Finally, the gas cupboard at the rear houses 2 x 13 kg LPG cylinders to power your Propex heating, water heater and fridge.

So, what are you waiting for…if you want that all seasons Motorhome that everyone wants to talk to you about or a full time live-in vehicle with a lot more space than you get in a Transit or a Sprinter, come and take a look. Based in Blackwood, South Wales.

Beds Description
